Magazine Design
Magazine Design, Bulletin, Monthly, Journal…
The design process begins with familiarization with the content, sections, the nature of the magazine, writing tone, and the target audience. It continues with designing a grid for the internal pages (articles, features, regular sections, table of contents), and, of course, designing the cover.
Once the grid is ready, we can proceed to design the pages themselves with the content of the current issue. When the magazine design is complete, it is time for revisions and proofreading. It’s worth noting that the more prepared the content is when it reaches the designer’s desk – that is, after editing and proofreading – the smoother the revision process will be.
The final stage involves preparing files for print, producing a proof copy for final review, and printing.
In recent years, I have been designing the bulletin for the Israeli Oncology Nursing Association. This bulletin includes professional articles and advertisements. It is published four times a year and consists of 40-60 pages each time. About a year ago, the booklet underwent a design upgrade to provide a contemporary look.
I have many years of experience in magazine design and producing various types of booklets, as well as five years of experience as a graphic designer in the periodicals department of Maariv and National Geographic in Hebrew in the past.
